Gabriel Milito wasted no time addressing the elephant in the room at his Chivas unveiling. “I didn’t come here to use the club as a stepping stone—I came to grow and help the team grow,” he stated firmly. According to Posta Deportes, the Argentine coach signed a two-year deal with an option to extend, and emphasized that he won’t entertain offers while under contract.

His pledge was a direct contrast to Fernando Gago’s controversial exit, which left fans and players feeling betrayed. Milito addressed the unease head-on: “Just as I wouldn’t like Chivas looking for another coach while I’m here, I would never negotiate with another club mid-contract.”

Milito openly embraces comparisons with Matías Almeyda, who led Chivas to five titles between 2015 and 2018. To build his own legacy, Milito is focusing on three pillars: a high-press, possession-based system; strategic signings aligned with sporting director Javier Mier; and an active integration of academy talent.

His roadmap is clear. In the short term (Apertura 2025), he aims to implement his tactical vision and reach the Liguilla. By Clausura 2026, the goal is to contend for a title and return to international tournaments. Long term, Milito hopes to extend his stay and build a lasting project in the mold of Almeyda’s era.

With a strong commitment and a defined philosophy, Milito isn’t looking for a shortcut—he’s aiming to make Chivas the defining chapter of his career.
