Milito Scolds Player Mid-Match, Chivas Starter Spot in Doubt Milito Scolds Player Mid-Match, Chivas Starter Spot in Doubt

Tensions are already surfacing at Chivas ahead of the Apertura 2025, as reports from Rebaño Pasión reveal that head coach Gabriel Milito lashed out at two players during a recent preseason match. One of them, midfielder Rubén "Oso" González, could be paying the price with his place in the starting lineup.

According to journalist Carlos López, the incident occurred during Chivas’ friendly against Mineros. Milito, known for his intensity and tactical rigor, was visibly upset after a costly mistake and did not hesitate to reprimand both González and Alan Mozo right on the pitch. While Mozo has more firmly established his spot in the team, González’s position is far less secure—and the Argentine coach’s reaction might reflect deeper doubts about the midfielder's role.

González, who hasn’t managed to become a consistent starter under Milito, now faces even stiffer competition. The arrivals of Richy Ledezma and the strong preseason form of Omar Govea mean that every mistake counts—and may cost him minutes. As Rebaño Pasión suggests, the misstep against Mineros could see González relegated to the bench as Chivas prepares for the season opener.

Although the Guadalajara club’s first league game was postponed due to poor pitch conditions at Estadio Akron, anticipation is building. The opener against León will mark Milito’s debut in Liga MX, and fans are eager to see his vision materialize. However, for players like González, every training session and friendly may now carry added weight—especially when the margin for error is this slim.
