Milan lost to Rennes in a high-scoring match but advanced to the next round of the Europa League

Milan visited Rennes for the second leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 16.

In the first leg, the Rossoneri secured a resounding 3-0 victory, so today's encounter posed a very difficult task for the French side: to revive seemingly extinguished intrigue.

Rennes didn't give up in front of their home fans and took the lead in the 11th minute through Bourigeaud. However, the guests responded swiftly, with Jovic restoring parity.

Early in the second half, Bourigeaud converted a penalty to put the hosts ahead for the second time, but Milan equalized even quicker than the first time, just four minutes later.

In the 68th minute, Rennes' standout performer today, Bourigeaud, completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot. The Rossoneri couldn't come back for the third time, but the advantage from the first leg allowed them to advance to the next round
