Alessandro Florenzi underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee, AC Milan confirmed. He is expected to be out for up to eight months.

The experienced Italian international sustained the serious injury during a pre-season friendly in the United States.

Upon returning to Italy, he had arthroscopic surgery at the Ospedale Galeazzi S Ambrogio clinic in Milan, performed by Dr. Roberto Pozzoni.

Florenzi's injury turned out to be more severe than initially thought. According to Sky Sport Italia, his recovery is estimated to take between six and eight months.

The 33-year-old, a product of Roma’s academy, previously played on loan for Crotone, Valencia, and Paris Saint-Germain before joining AC Milan in 2021. Over his Serie A career, he has made 288 appearances, scoring 28 goals and providing 33 assists, playing in various positions, including right back, left back, and midfielder.
