Milan Coach Backs Santiago Giménez Amid Goal Drought
Milan manager Sergio Conceicao has voiced his support for Santiago Giménez ahead of the Coppa Italia derby against Inter. The Mexican striker, who hasn’t scored since February 18, is enduring a difficult stretch, but still enjoys full backing from his coach. The comments were reported by FutbolSapiens.
“It’s hard to come to Italy and perform well right away. He had a dip in form, but it happens to everyone,” Conceicao said in a pre-match press conference. The Portuguese tactician even drew a personal parallel, saying, “When I arrived in Italy, I went through the same thing. The best way I can help him is by giving him space and showing trust.”
Giménez made an immediate impact after his winter arrival, delivering an assist 11 minutes into his debut and scoring three goals early on. However, his momentum has stalled since mid-February, including a missed penalty against Napoli in a match Milan went on to lose. Still, Conceicao insists that adapting to Serie A takes time and remains confident the striker will bounce back.
