Milan are the first in history to leave the play-offs of the new Champions League format
Milan faced Feyenoord in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League preliminary round on Tuesday, February 18, but the evening did not go as planned for the Rossoneri.
Details: Milan took the lead in the very first minute of the match, leveling the aggregate score. However, early in the second half, they were reduced to ten men as Theo Hernandez received a second yellow card for simulation.
Feyenoord capitalized on their numerical advantage and equalized in the 73rd minute. As a result, the Dutch side moved ahead on aggregate.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, sending Feyenoord through to the round of 16. Milan, meanwhile, became the first team in the history of the Champions League’s new format to be eliminated in the preliminary playoff round.
