Milan are monitoring the Wolfsburg centre-back, who is interested in Liverpool
During the summer, AC Milan aims to fortify its defensive core with a swift center-back who infrequently succumbs to injuries. Strengthening this specific position will be the club's foremost priority in the upcoming transfer window.
As per Nicolò Schira's report, the Rossoneri are actively scrutinizing the candidacy of the French defender Maxence Lacroix from Wolfsburg. However, a potential hurdle lies in the player's release clause, which stands at 40 million euros. In order to facilitate the transfer, Milan will engage in negotiations with Wolfsburg to explore the possibility of reducing the fee.
In the current season, AC Milan has grappled significantly with injuries to central defenders. To address this issue, the club had to recall Matteo Gabbia, a central defender on loan to Villarreal, during the winter transfer window.
Maxence Lacroix made the move to Wolfsburg in the summer of 2020 from Sochaux for a fee of 5 million euros. In the ongoing Bundesliga campaign, he has featured in 20 matches, contributing two goals.
Apart from Milan, the 23-year-old Frenchman has attracted interest from Liverpool, Atalanta, and PSG.
