Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has challenged Nigeria’s national team to go all the way at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The former Chelsea midfielder sent the message shortly after the Nigeria Football Federation unveiled the final 28-man squad for the tournament.

Mikel, who led Nigeria to their last AFCON success in 2013, shared his support on Instagram, telling the players, “Bring it home lads,” as preparations intensify. His rallying cry comes amid mixed expectations, following a tough period that included Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ahead of the tournament, the squad was reduced from an initial 55-man list, with players such as Christantus Uche, Maduka Okoye and Tolu Arokodare missing out. Several new faces have also been included, offering fresh energy. Despite the changes, the Super Eagles retain experience and emerging talent as they pursue a fourth continental crown.
