The Ferrari F2001, driven by Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher during the 2001 season, has been sold at auction for a staggering sum, according to the Daily Mail.

As reported, the car was put up for auction at RM Sotheby's and fetched £13.42 million, setting a new record for any Schumacher-driven Formula 1 car. The previous record was set in 2022, when a Ferrari F2003-GA sold for £9.75 million.

It's worth noting that Schumacher clinched victories at both Monaco and Hungary in the Ferrari F2001, securing his fourth Formula 1 world title during the 2001 season. Overall, Michael Schumacher won the Formula 1 championship seven times before retiring from racing in 2012.

However, it's important to highlight that the sale of Schumacher's Ferrari F2001 is not the absolute record in F1 history. The all-time high was set in 2023, when a Mercedes W196 R, raced by Juan Manuel Fangio in 1955, was purchased for an astonishing £42.75 million.
