Michael Brace Fires Enyimba Back to Winning Ways

Enyimba bounced back to winning ways on Sunday with an emphatic NPFL victory over Kwara United at the Enyimba Stadium. The Aba side thrilled home fans in an entertaining contest that lived up to its billing.

Agu Samuel opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, but Kwara United’s winger, Gidado Toheeb, struck back on 31st minutes after a dazzling run into the box.

The second half belonged to young striker Chidera Michael. The forward restored Enyimba’s lead in the 59th minute after skipper Paschal Eze returned a well floated corner for him to “cooly slot home…”. He later capitalised on a loose pass from the Kwara goalkeeper to score again and take his season tally to five, sealing maximum points for the nine-time champions.

Interim coach Lawrence Ukaegbu said the win was deserved, noting “we prepared well for the encounter…” while admitting chances were missed.

Captain Paschal Eze said the team is “on a mission…” and promised they will “fight for the maximum points” in Maiduguri.

The result lifts Enyimba to 23 points ahead of their Matchday 18 trip to face the Desert Warriors.
