On the night of Sunday, February 8, a friendly match took place between American side Inter Miami and Ecuador's Barcelona.
Details: The clash in Guayaquil ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw. The main man of the evening was Lionel Messi, who was involved in both of his team's goals, but the Argentine's efforts proved just short of sealing a victory.
It was Messi who opened the scoring in the 31st minute with a stunning strike.
The Ecuadorians responded through Joao Rojas ten minutes later, but just before halftime, Leo shone again: after his pinpoint assist, German Bertrame put the Herons ahead.
It's worth noting that Inter Miami couldn’t hold on to their lead and eventually conceded. The match ended in a draw.
Reminder: The "Messi rule" will no longer be in effect: Argentina will ban national team call-ups for players who moved to Europe too early.
