Messi’s lone goal secures Inter Miami’s victory in first CONCACAF Champions Cup match

In the early hours of Thursday, February 20, Inter Miami kicked off their new official season with a trip to face Sporting Kansas City in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
The first half saw a cautious approach from both sides, with little attacking action and just one shot on target in the opening 45 minutes. However, the second half started with an early breakthrough for the visitors.
In the 56th minute, Lionel Messi, assisted by Sergio Busquets, broke the deadlock. His goal proved to be the only one of the match, securing a crucial win for Miami in their opening competitive fixture of the season.
Up next, Inter Miami will begin their MLS campaign on February 23 against New York City FC before hosting Sporting Kansas City in the return leg of the Champions Cup on February 26.
