“Messi Is on Another Planet” – Jay-Jay Okocha Picks Lionel Messi Over Cristiano Ronaldo

Former Super Eagles captain Jay-Jay Okocha has weighed in on the long-running Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo debate, choosing the Argentine legend as his preferred player.

Speaking on The Obi One Podcast alongside John Obi Mikel and Chris McHardy, Okocha was asked by former Nigeria international John Obi Mikel to pick between the two football icons.

The Nigerian football legend had no hesitation in selecting Messi, describing the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner as a player who operates on “another planet.”

Okocha acknowledged Ronaldo’s quality and goalscoring ability but believes Messi offers something different, comparing his style of play to art.

Jay Jay Okocha: "Messi is for me. Ronaldo is special, but he’s a goalscorer like Haaland. Messi is on another planet; he’s art. He was born to play football. I think Messi would get ill if he didn't play football.”
