Messi ahead of everyone, but Kane has 73 goals! Ballon d'Or nominees' wild numbers revealed
The Ballon d'Or race has received another explosive statistical twist.
Details: The attacking numbers of the Ballon d'Or nominees from the 2025-26 season reveal two different leaders. Lionel Messi sits at the top for total goal involvements with an astonishing 85, while Harry Kane leads everyone in goals scored with 73.
Messi recorded 53 goals and 32 assists during the season, giving him four more total goal contributions than Kane. The English striker, however, produced an extraordinary scoring campaign: 73 goals and eight assists for 81 combined involvements.
Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland are next on the list. Both forwards scored 58 times, but Mbappé provided 13 assists compared with Haaland's 12, leaving the Frenchman narrowly ahead with 71 goal involvements to the Norwegian's 70.
Michael Olise stands out in a completely different category. The Frenchman registered 37 assists — the highest figure among the players listed — and combined them with 25 goals for a total of 62 goal involvements.
