Memphis Depay involved in Corinthians scandal! The dispute escalates to a strike

Details: According to GE newspaper, this Wednesday Memphis Depay skipped team training, sparking speculation among fans about a potential departure.

The 31-year-old Depay made this bold move as a sign of protest and dissatisfaction with the club's failure to pay his full salary. Corinthians are currently going through a tough financial period, which has led to delays in player wage payments.

However, according to the same source, the following day Memphis did arrive at the club’s training ground, where he met with the team president. After the meeting, Corinthians’ press service announced that Memphis Depay would remain with the club but would be fined under team regulations for missing training.

Previously, Depay had made it clear that if the debts were not settled, he would be forced to leave the team.

Depay joined Corinthians in September 2024 as a free agent, having previously played for Atlético Madrid from 2023 to 2024. His transfer value is estimated at €10 million, and his contract with the Brazilian club runs until 2026.
