Medeama SC and FC Samartex in Ghana Premier League Part Ways with Coaches Amidst Poor Performances
Medeama SC, a team in Ghana's top football league, let go of their head coach, Nebojsa Kapor, after they lost 3-2 to Vision FC, a newly promoted team, on Saturday. Kapor had joined the team in December 2023 with a one-year contract, but he left because the team and him couldn't agree on extending his contract. Medeama, who were once strong contenders for the championship, have had a tough season. They are currently three points behind the top team with 21 points from 13 matches.
For now, Evans Adotey, the team's technical director, will be in charge of the team.
Another team in the Ghana Premier League, FC Samartex, who won the league before, also fired their head coach, Nurudeen Amadu. This decision came after a series of poor performances, including three straight losses in the league and an early exit from the MTN FA Cup. Henry Wellington, the assistant coach, will take over temporarily.
With 17 points, Samartex is currently ranked 10th in the league. This weekend, on Matchday 14, they will play Bechem United.
