MC Alger Threatens to Take Esperance to FIFA Over Belaili’s Transfer Fees – Tunisian Club Responds
According to reports, MC Alger is thinking of filing a possible protest with FIFA in an attempt to escalate their conflict with Esperance de Tunis for unpaid money from the transfer of star player Youcef Belaili.
Financial Dispute Over Belaili’s Transfer
Reports indicate that Esperance has not yet paid the last installment of the transfer fee, which is estimated to be $300,000. Now that all peaceful options have been explored, MC Alger is getting ready to submit a formal protest to FIFA's dispute resolution chamber.
Esperance Denies Payment Delay
A source close to Esperance denied the claims, stating that no complaint has been filed against the club at FIFA. The source underlined that there are no delays in processing any payments in accordance with the agreement made with MC Alger. Furthermore, Esperance recently paid off past debts, which enabled them to remove a transfer ban imposed because of a disagreement with Jordanian player Faisal Abu Zrayq “Sharara.”
Belaili’s Impact at Esperance
Notwithstanding the off-field controversies, Youcef Belaili has had a strong season with Esperance. The Algerian player has scored important goals and played a significant part in both the CAF Champions League and the Tunisian league. His most recent efforts were a goal in the 2-0 victory against US Monastir and another in the 4-2 triumph over Stade Tunisien.
Belaili has established himself as one of Esperance's most valued acquisitions, contributing 14 goals in 21 games across all competitions. With 36 points from 17 games, the team now leads the Tunisian league. It has also guaranteed a place in the CAF Champions League quarterfinals for the eighth straight year.
