By defeating TP Mazembe 1-0 on Friday, MC Alger maintained their hopes of making it to the CAF Champions League quarterfinals. Magloire Ntambwe was fouled, and Akram Bouras converted the game-winning penalty in the 36th minute.

Mazembe unable to capitalize on their opportunities throughout the game, which took place at the 5 July 1962 Stadium. Despite creating chances, they were unable to equalize because to their subpar finishing and Alger's formidable defense. In the closing seconds, Andy Delort's header struck the post, nearly giving MC Alger another goal.

With this victory, MC Alger moves up to second place in Group A with 8 points, behind Al Hilal who have 10 points. On the other hand, Mazembe stays at the bottom with only 2 points, meaning they are out of the competition.

Mazembe, which advanced to the semi-finals the previous season, had a dismal campaign, as seen by the outcome. The Congolese powerhouses now have to concentrate on winning at home, where they will also have a difficult journey.
