Having taken charge of Mouloudia’s coaching staff last summer, the South African manager stepped down from his post on Saturday 14 March 2026.

Rulani Mokwena’s departure was officially announced by the Algerian club via a statement on its social media channels.

The management of MC Alger announces the departure of South African coach Rulani Mokwena from the club, following the activation of the clause terminating his role as head of the first team, whereby the contract stipulates that Benda must pay two months’ salary should he wish to leave. The decision came after the manager met with the club’s management, during which he expressed his desire to end his time with the team after eight months.

Rulani Mokwena’s record as manager of MC Alger stands at 34 matches, 20 wins, 8 draws and 6 defeats. He led the Algerian club to the Algerian Super Cup title. He leaves the club at the top of the Algerian Ligue 1.

Following his departure from MC Alger, Rulani Mokwena is reportedly set to join Al Ittihad in Libya.
