Matthis Bolly announces his retirement

The Ivorian striker is hanging up his boots at 35.

Having been without a club since leaving Lillestrøm SK, Matthis Bolly has decided to bring his career to an end. The former Ivorian international (5 caps) played in the 2014 World Cup with the Elephants. At club level, he played for several European teams. But on Monday 6 April, he announced his retirement from football in a statement via his Instagram account.

So many wonderful memories to look back on! Thank you to my childhood clubs Lyn, Oppsal and Holmlia, the Lillestrøm youth team and all the senior clubs I had the pleasure of playing for. Teammates with whom I shared the dressing room and all the friends I made along the way. And for having worn the national team jersey – a source of immense pride for me! And last but not least, to everyone who has supported me along the way. Takk! Thank you! Ayoka!
