The Ivory Coast U20 women’s team face Benin on Sunday in the second leg of the final round of African qualifiers for the U20 Women’s World Cup, due to take place in Poland this year.

Ahead of this second leg, to be played in Lomé on 10 May, the coach of the U20 Elephants has clearly set out his team’s objective. The Ivorians are in Togo to qualify. Matthieu Esposito acknowledges, however, the quality of the opposition and expects a tough encounter after the first leg ended 1-1.

We’ve clearly come here to score a goal, because otherwise we’ll be out. Over 90 minutes, anything is still possible. We know it will be very difficult, but we’ll have to score. It’ll be 50-50. The first leg was a real battle. There was a strong spell for each team. If both nations have got this far, it’s because they’ve earned their place.
