Marumo Gallants Shock TS Galaxy as Rockets' Late Fightback Falls Short!

Marumo Gallants pulled off a crucial 2-1 victory over TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, securing back-to-back wins and moving three points clear of the relegation zone.

Galaxy’s CAF Dreams Take a Hit

The defeat was a major setback for TS Galaxy, who missed the chance to overtake third-placed Stellenbosch. Now level on 35 points, Galaxy have played two more games, making their CAF qualification hopes even more difficult.

Gallants Strike Early!

The visitors made an explosive start, scoring within two minutes after a defensive blunder. Masindu Nemtajela intercepted a loose pass, and after his first shot was saved, he reacted quickly to slot home the rebound.

Galaxy dominated possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances. Gallants nearly doubled their lead in the 35th minute, keeping coach Adnan Beganovic visibly frustrated at halftime.

Gallants Strengthen Their Grip

The visitors continued their impressive display, and in the 56th minute, Daniel Msendami latched onto a Mlungisi Khumalo layoff before firing a powerful shot into the net, making it 2-0.

Galaxy’s Late Fightback Falls Short

Substitute Victor Letsoalo gave the hosts hope in the 67th minute, finishing smartly after a Puso Dithejane assist. Despite a late push, including a Keagan Dolly miss in the dying moments, Galaxy couldn’t find an equalizer.

Gallants’ victory keeps them 12th in the standings, while Galaxy must regroup quickly as their CAF ambitions hang in the balance.
