The potential transfer of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United to Marseille does not cause optimism in the capital of Provence. Thus, the mayor of Marseille Benoit Payan himself has spoken out about the possible transfer.

Blame the scandalous behaviour of the 22-year-old forward, who, let's recall, in January 2022 was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence:

"His behaviour is out of the question. Beating his wife... I've seen pictures that deeply affected me. Abusing your wife is an act after which you cease to be a human being and it has no place in the team.

The values of the team and the city of Marseille are not really like that. It's a disgrace. I will appeal to club president Pablo Longoria not to sign Greenwood. I don't want my club to be associated with a disgrace that involves someone beating his wife," Payan's words on RMC ESPN radio station.

Recall, earlier it was reported that the 22-year-old forward is close to a move to Marseille. The Provençal club has already sent a transfer proposal to Manchester United.
