Maresca confirms serious injury to Chelsea striker Delap
Chelsea forward Liam Delap suffered a serious shoulder injury during the Premier League Matchweek 15 clash against Bournemouth (0-0). The London striker was forced off the pitch in the 32nd minute, clutching his shoulder after a collision during a corner kick.
Details: In an interview with the BBC, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed that the striker’s injury looks severe.
"Unfortunately, he has already missed two months, and now he's sidelined again. We don't know yet for how long, but his shoulder looks quite bad," Maresca said.
This is Delap’s second major injury of the season—earlier, he was sidelined for an extended period with a hamstring injury.
"He’s been unlucky. We’ve been a bit unlucky too, because we really need a number nine like him," the coach added.
It’s worth noting that Liam Delap joined Chelsea in the summer of 2025, transferring from Ipswich for €40 million. In total, the 22-year-old striker has made 11 appearances and scored one goal.
Reminder: Bournemouth’s Ghanaian winger Antoine Semenyo could be on his way to Chelsea.
