Marcos Rojo’s Brother Hints at Estudiantes Return: “If He Wants to, He’ll Come Back”

As his contract with Boca Juniors edges toward its December 2025 expiration, Marcos Rojo’s future is starting to draw attention—particularly in La Plata. According to 1.21+, Rojo’s brother, Franco, hinted at the possibility of the defender returning to Estudiantes, the club where he began his career.
“It could happen. That’s where he came from. If he wants to and if it’s possible, he’ll return,” said Franco Rojo, adding that Estudiantes could use a player of his profile in their current setup under Eduardo Domínguez. While club legend Juan Sebastián Verón publicly denied ongoing talks, the door doesn’t seem completely shut.
Despite the speculation, Rojo has expressed his affection for Boca and his intention to remain at the club. “I’ve got a contract until December. My family doesn’t want to leave. I haven’t spoken to the club yet, but I have a good relationship with Román. When the time comes, there won’t be much drama,” he recently said.
For Estudiantes, a potential return would go beyond tactical reinforcement — it would be an emotional homecoming for one of their most recognized academy products and a statement of identity in Argentine football.
