Manuel Neuer to Miss Champions League Return Leg in Leverkusen
In the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Bayern Munich thrashed Bayer Leverkusen with a 3-0 victory, but in this game, Neuer sustained an injury.
Details: According to Florian Plettenberg, due to this injury, the German goalkeeper is sidelined for several weeks – he has been diagnosed with a muscle fiber tear in his right calf. Neuer will miss the next three to four matches, including the return leg against Leverkusen.
Replacing Neuer on the field was 21-year-old Jonas Urbig, who joined Bayern this winter. This match marked his debut for the Munich team. Urbig will replace Neuer in Bayern's starting lineup.
Interestingly, Manuel got injured during the celebration of a goal scored against Bayer. The second goal scorer was Jamal Musiala, "assisted" by the visitors' goalkeeper Matej Kovar. The pharmaceutical keeper left his goal, but in a straightforward situation, failed to secure the ball in his hands.
