Manchester United's defender, Alvaro Fernandes, will continue his career at Benfica. Personal terms between the player and the clubs have already been agreed upon. Currently, the paperwork for the transfer is underway.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 20-year-old Spanish defender will join the Eagles on a loan basis until the end of the season. Benfica will have the option to secure the player's contract permanently if they wish to do so.

Fernandes, at the age of 20, had previously played for the youth teams of Spanish clubs Deportivo La Coruña and Real Madrid. In September 2020, he became a part of Manchester United's football academy. In May 2022, he was recognized as the Player of the Year in Manchester United's reserve team, earning the Denzil Haroun Award.

During the summer, the defender moved to Granada on loan. In the first part of the current season, the Spaniard participated in 14 matches across all competitions.
