Manchester United have surged into the lead for the signing of the 20-year-old defender
The defensive line has been one of Manchester United's biggest problems this season, but the Mancunians are determined to fix that and are already looking to strengthen their defence in the summer transfer window.
According to O Jogo, Erik ten Hag and Co are in a strong position to get Benfica's 20-year-old centre-back Antonio Silva, who is valued at £86m.
That is the amount of the pay-off spelt out in his contract, which is valid until 2027 and Manchester United could capitalise on the opportunity at the end of the season. The Red Devils have already made contact with Silva's agent, Jorge Mendes.
The 20-year-old defender has previously been strongly linked with Chelsea, but at the moment it is the Mancunians who are the main suitors for the Portuguese.
