It appears that Bayern Munich's star central defender Matthijs de Ligt is set to continue his career in the English Premier League.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the "Red Devils" have made significant progress in negotiations with the Munich club. They have almost agreed on a transfer fee of 50 million euros plus bonuses.

Manchester United has already agreed on a contract with de Ligt until the summer of 2029. The Dutchman has informed his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, that he is only willing to move to Manchester United and is not considering any other options.

Manchester United hopes to finalize not only de Ligt's transfer but also the transfer of Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee in the coming days.

De Ligt joined Bayern in the summer of 2022 from Juventus for 67 million euros. Last season, he played only 22 matches in the Bundesliga, scoring 2 goals.

Previously, de Ligt played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.
