Manchester United enters battle with other top clubs for young French talent
The 18-year-old talent from French club Rennes, Désiré Doué, has been attracting the attention of several top clubs. Previously, it was reported that Arsenal, Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, and others were interested in him.
Now, according to the Daily Mail, Manchester United has also expressed interest.
Doué's appeal to top clubs is well-founded. Despite his young age, he has become a key player for Rennes, earning a spot in the starting lineup, performing admirably for youth national teams, and being lauded by his teammates as the best young player they have seen.
Rennes' head coach Julien Stéphan commented on the interest surrounding Doué during a press interaction:
"We understand the current market, especially concerning very young players.
He will make decisions based on his personal ambitions. I'm not naive.
We are pleased to have been able to develop him in the second half of the season."
This season, Doué has played 42 matches for Rennes, scoring four goals and providing four assists.
