Manchester United bids farewell to longtime employee Kath Phipps, attended by David Beckham
Manchester United recently held a heartfelt farewell for Kath Phipps, a beloved member of the club who passed away last month at the age of 85. The funeral was attended by numerous former and current players and coaches, underscoring her importance to the United family.
Phipps began working at Manchester United in the 1960s during the era of Sir Matt Busby. She became a cornerstone of the club's administrative staff, serving as the welcoming face at the Carrington training ground. Her warmth and hospitality left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
David Beckham, who visited Phipps shortly before her passing, shared a touching tribute on Instagram:
“The first and last face I would always see was Kath sat at reception atOld Traffordwaiting to give me my tickets for the game. She was the heartbeat ofManchesterUnited, everyone knew who Kath was and everyone adored her. I moved up toManchesterat 15 and Kath made a promise to my mum and dad 'I'll look after your boy for you don't you worry.'”
