Manchester United barred several journalists from attending Erik ten Hag's press conference
Part of the press was denied access to Erik ten Hag's press conference by Manchester United, as reported by the Daily Mail.
According to sources, journalists Kaveh Solhekol (Sky Sports), Samuel Luckhurst (Manchester Evening News), David McDonnell (The Mirror), and Rob Dawson (ESPN) were not allowed to engage with the coach. It is reported that this decision was made under the directives of the club's communication director, Andrew Ward.
Manchester United confirmed that the club took action against several news organizations not for publishing stories they dislike but for doing so without prior communication, which would have allowed the club to comment, challenge, or contextualize.
"We believe this is an important principle to uphold, and we hope it can lead to a reset in our working relationship," the club stated.
It is worth noting that two Manchester United players are implicated in leaking information to the media from within the club. According to sources, there is frustration within Manchester United regarding this situation. They are disappointed with the negative information leaks and believe it does not accurately depict the true picture of what is happening within the club. While there are certain discrepancies in the dressing room, the majority of the squad is upset with media teams of specific players preparing reports for the press.
