Despite the fact that Newcastle's sporting director Dan Ashworth's full-fledged move to Manchester United still has to wait, the Red Devils are already starting to prepare their summer reinforcements.

One of the most problematic positions at Old Trafford is the centre of defence and according to The Mirror, the club are looking to strengthen it with Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer. Media outlets abroad in England claim that Ashworth has approved this candidature, but this information has not been confirmed yet.

Nevertheless, the 27-year-old Brazilian has a £43million clause spelled out in his contract, and that sum is unlikely to be considered a big deal. Earlier, Sir Jim Ratcliffe expressed his desire to move away from the habit of spending fabulous money on ageing players.

Bremer has played 29 games for Juventus this season, in which he even scored two goals. Transfermarkt values the centre-back, who has a contract with the Turin club until June 2028, at 60 million euros.
