Manchester City vs Barcelona: what you need to know about the match

After their final match of the previous season against Manchester United in the FA Cup final, Manchester City allowed their players to rest and participate in various international tournaments before resuming preparations. As part of their pre-season, the Citizens have played only one match so far, facing the Scottish champions, Celtic. The match was action-packed with goals, ultimately ending in a narrow 4-3 victory for the Scots.

Barcelona has also played just one friendly match, albeit against a much less renowned opponent. The Catalans faced the modest Olot, who were recently promoted to Segunda B, the third tier of Spanish football. This match was far less thrilling, with only one goal scored by Pablo Torre, securing the victory for Barcelona.

Manchester City and Barcelona have met several times, including in friendly matches. Their most recent encounter was two years ago at Camp Nou, where the teams played out a thrilling 3-3 draw.
