Manchester City sponsor hires top lawyers: Etihad prepares to strike back at the Premier League
Etihad Airways, one of Manchester City’s key partners, has brought in renowned law firm Quinn Emanuel amid a potential legal battle with the Premier League. According to The Lawyer, the airline is considering every available option to protect its interests following the verdict in the case involving the English club.
Quinn Emanuel is regarded as one of the world’s leading law firms specializing in major litigation and arbitration. For five consecutive years, the firm has been named the world’s “Most Feared” law firm. In addition, Quinn Emanuel lawyers secured seven victories in court and arbitration proceedings in just one week.
Etihad Airways had previously stated that it would explore every possible legal avenue following the Premier League’s decision regarding Manchester City. The appointment of Quinn Emanuel could now underline the seriousness of the airline’s intentions.
To recap, an independent Premier League commission found Manchester City guilty of breaching the league’s financial regulations on a number of counts. The club has already appealed the commission’s decision. Against this backdrop, potential action by Etihad could open up another legal front in the high-profile case, with consequences capable of affecting not only the club itself but also its commercial partners.
