Manchester City nightmare far from over! Premier League giants could face another wave of charges

Manchester City's financial nightmare could be far from over! Just weeks after an independent commission found the English giants guilty of major breaches of Premier League financial regulations, fresh reports suggest the club could face another investigation covering the seasons after 2018.

Details: According to The Independent's Miguel Delaney, an increasing number of Premier League executives want Manchester City's financial activities after 2018 to be investigated. Some are pushing for additional charges following the commission's findings concerning inflated sponsorship revenues and disguised investment from the club's owners.

The original investigation covered financial conduct between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons. On September 29, the Premier League confirmed that an independent commission had upheld all the major financial allegations. Manchester City continue to deny wrongdoing and are appealing the verdict.

The latest concerns focus on whether questionable sponsorship arrangements continued after 2018. Some executives believe the commission's findings justify examining later seasons, especially considering City's extraordinary domestic success during that period.

However, Premier League officials face a difficult decision. Another investigation could take years, and some club representatives believe the existing case should conclude first. No new charges have been officially announced, while the punishment for the earlier violations remains undecided. The situation could nevertheless create another major crisis for the Manchester club.

Reminder: Manchester City were previously found guilty of serious financial rule breaches by an independent Premier League commission.
