Manchester City have reportedly hijacked Tottenham Hotspur’s move for Senegal international Iliman Ndiaye after reaching an agreement in principle with Everton for the forward.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, City have agreed a deal worth up to £65 million for the 26-year-old, with the transfer now at the paperwork stage and a medical expected on Tuesday.

Tottenham had previously moved ahead of City in the race for Ndiaye and were close to completing a deal with Everton. However, complications in the final stages have opened the door for Manchester City to step in and take advantage.

The situation is also linked to a potential return of Richarlison to Everton, although the two transfers were being treated as separate deals.

Ndiaye has now emerged as Manchester City’s preferred attacking option as the Senegalese forward is closing in on a move to the Etihad Stadium.
