Manchester City and Chelsea to compete for record-breaking prize money at the Club World Cup
Manchester City and Chelsea stand to receive substantial payouts for participating in the new format of the Club World Cup, which kicks off in June in the USA. The tournament's total prize pool is set at 1 billion euros, with the winner potentially earning up to 97 million pounds.
Details: FIFA, in conjunction with the European Club Association, has developed a prize distribution system. Approximately 400 million pounds are allocated for participation fees, with the amount depending on the commercial value of the teams. An additional 368 million pounds are earmarked for bonuses for victories, progression to the playoffs, and final placements.
Despite the lucrative financial prospects, English clubs may face challenges with player availability. Many players will be occupied with international matches but can join their clubs for the crucial stages of the tournament.
Reminder: Liga Deportiva Alajuelense issued a strong statement against CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani after he publicly supported the club Leon following its exclusion from the 2025 Club World Cup.
