While all of Manchester United's efforts are currently focused on signing Bryan Mbeumo, Old Trafford is preparing a range of possible options to strengthen the squad—including potential replacements for outgoing players.
Details: The departure of striker Rasmus Højlund this summer cannot be ruled out, and The Athletic reports that Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins is being lined up as his replacement. The clubs have already made contact through intermediaries, and discussions have also included Marcus Rashford, who has now returned to Old Trafford.
However, the £60 million price tag for the 29-year-old forward is giving Manchester United pause, considering his age and the limited resale potential.
Reminder: It was previously reported that Fiorentina striker Moise Kean is also a contender to replace Højlund at United.
