Man United defender may choose DR Congo over England
England has lost several talented players to other national teams in recent years, with Jamal Musiala’s switch to Germany being one of the most notable examples. Now, another young prospect might follow a similar path.
Details: According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United’s young defender Godwill Kukonki has received an offer to represent the DR Congo national team. The 17-year-old center-back was born in England and is eligible to play for the Three Lions, but his decision remains uncertain at this stage.
Reminder: Kukonki, who turned 17 on February 6, has been training with United’s senior squad since Ruben Amorim took charge. He was included in the first-team squad for December’s match against Arsenal. Meanwhile, United recently advanced to the FA Cup Round of 16 in controversial fashion after defeating Leicester.
