Mali U-17 suddenly destroyed Argentina in the FIFA U-17 World Cup third-place match

The Mali national team claimed the bronze at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup. In the battle for the third spot, the African team unexpectedly thrashed Argentina - victory 3:0.

The "Eagles" struck twice against their more renowned opponents in the first half. Precise shots came from Ibrahim Diarra and Mamadou Doumbia. Hamidou Makalou further extended the lead early in the second half. The Argentinians failed to respond and were left without any accolades at the World Cup.

In the tournament's semifinal, Mali's national team fell to France (1:2). In the quarterfinals, the "Eagles" overcame Morocco (1:0) and dominated Mexico's team (5:0) in the round of 16.

The "White and Blues" navigated through the playoffs by triumphing over Brazil's team (3:0) and Venezuela's (5:0), but fell short against Germany in the semifinals (3:3, 2:4 in penalties).

It's noteworthy that this marks the U-17 Mali national team's maiden success of this magnitude in history. Prior to this achievement, the team had twice lifted the African Cup of Nations trophy in 2015 and 2017.

The World Cup final, where the tournament's winner between Germany and France will be determined, is scheduled for December 2nd.
