Mali to face Morocco in Tangier friendly after Tunisia match called off

The Malian Football Federation announced on Wednesday 30 September that the Eagles of Mali will not, after all, be playing against Tunisia.

The match that was due to take place between Mali and the Eagles of Carthage on Saturday 3 October will not go ahead after all. Instead, the Malian national team will face Morocco in a new international friendly.

This decision comes as the Atlas Lions have also seen their friendly match, originally scheduled against Ghana’s Black Stars, cancelled. The Malian Football Federation has therefore chosen Morocco to replace Tunisia in its fixture list.

The Eagles will therefore face the Atlas Lions on Sunday 4 October. The match will be played at the Tangier Grand Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 6 pm GMT.

This decision comes after the teams in question had played their first two matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Morocco and Mali won their respective matches, whilst Ghana lost both of theirs and Tunisia drew both.

The Atlas Lions and the Eagles of Mali will therefore meet on Sunday 4 October in Tangier, both full of confidence.
