Malawian Coach Meck Mwase Returns to Lead Mbabane Highlanders in Eswatini Premier League to Restore Club' Glory

Mbabane Highlanders have officially announced a new chapter with Meck Mwase appointed as head coach, marking his return to the club for a second stint. Mwase, who previously guided the team to a second-place finish in the 2015/16 season, replaces Thembela Dlamini.

Mwase’s coaching team will include Vusisizwe Mahlalela as assistant coach and Chicco Mayisa, a former player, returning as goalkeeper coach. The club expressed confidence in their new leadership and called for the unwavering support of the Highlanders' fans as they aim to reclaim their place at the top of the Eswatini Premier League.

Having previously managed the Malawi National Team, where he led them to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Mwase brings a wealth of experience. The Highlanders are currently in third place, just two points behind the league leaders, Ezulwini United.

Mwase’s first challenge will be a highly anticipated match against rivals Moneni Pirates, as the club seeks to restore its former glory.
