Malang Sarr threatened and assaulted at a hotel in Marbella

The Senegalese international was the victim of threats and violence in Spain after signing for Neom SC last July.

According to reports in L’Équipe, two burly men reportedly turned up at the hotel where the Senegalese defender was staying. According to several witnesses quoted by the French daily, the two men forced their way into a private function room before lifting Malang Sarr out of his seat and forcing him to follow them upstairs. The player was then reportedly slapped on the stairs.

This altercation is reportedly linked to Malang Sarr’s transfer to Neom SC. The Senegalese defender joined the Saudi club on a three-year contract, which is said to be worth €15 million net over the duration of the deal.

However, one of his representatives is said to have taken offence at not receiving any commission from the deal. Malang Sarr claims to have negotiated directly with the chairman of Neom SC and to have refused to pay any compensation despite the pressure exerted on him.

Despite the threats and violence he endured in Marbella, Malang Sarr is reported to have decided not to press charges.
