Major changes continue. Ajax considers bringing Marc Overmars back as sporting director
Following the recent dismissal of John Heitinga as head coach and the resignation of Alex Kroes as sporting director, discussions are heating up in Amsterdam about the potential return of a renowned former executive.
Details: According to SoccerNews, the club is seriously considering bringing Marc Overmars back to Ajax.
Overmars oversaw Ajax’s sporting department from July 2012 to February 2022. Under his leadership, the so-called "velvet revolution" took place, with its pinnacle being the club’s run to the Champions League semi-finals. That era also saw the arrival of stars such as Daley Blind, Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong, Dusan Tadic, and Hakim Ziyech.
Overmars left the club in 2022 following complaints about inappropriate behavior towards female staff members.
Reminder: Erik ten Hag has received an offer from Ajax for the head coach position.
