Mahamadou Kanté has chosen between France and Mali for his international career

Mali could soon have a new addition to their squad.

Mahamadou Kanté, a young West Ham midfielder, is reported to have agreed to represent the Eagles of Mali. Born in Paris, France, and of Malian and Senegalese descent, the 20-year-old is now said to be ready to represent Mali on the international stage.

The Eagles’ coaching staff are reported to have contacted the midfielder to find out his intentions. And Mahamadou Kanté is said to have responded favourably to head coach Anthony da Silva.

The player is said to have clearly expressed his desire to represent Mali on the international stage. According to Malian sources, Mahamadou Kanté could be called up as early as this coming September for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. His presence would provide an additional option for Anthony da Silva, who aims to build a competitive Malian team.

Despite his young age, Mahamadou Kanté played in the Premier League last season with West Ham. His experience in the English league could prove an asset for the Eagles of Mali.
