Maguire has spoken out about competing with de Ligt for a place in Man United's squad
Manchester United made a significant investment in the defensive line in the summer, signing Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Leny Yoro. Some defensive players who were already in Erik ten Hag's team might have been concerned. But not Harry Maguire.
The former Mancunians captain is confident that this number of defenders will only be a plus, as squad rotation, which he has no doubt, will give everyone a chance to play:
‘There are so many games this season. I'm sure there will be a lot of changes in the starting line-up from game to game. And when it's your turn, you have to take your chance. And yes, we will need a big squad to do that,’ Maguire said in a conversation with the club's press office.
The 31-year-old defender, who was linked with a move away from Manchester United in the summer, played in 31 games at club level last season, scoring four goals and contributing three assists.
