Magesi FC wants to disengage with his key midfield! Samuel Darpoh

According to reports, Magesi FC want to offload one of their key midfielders this season in Samuel Darpoh at the end of the 2024-2025 season, the team that was promoted from the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season is currently competing in the Betway Premiership.

Newcomers Magesi FC scripted one of South African football's most remarkable fairytales last November when they stunned continental giants Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 to claim the Carling Knockout Cup just months after promotion. However, their dream start quickly turned into a survival battle, forcing drastic changes at the Limpopo-based club.

The cup triumph masked growing league struggles that ultimately cost coach Clinton Larsen his job. Veteran tactician Owen Da Gama's subsequent appointment steadied the ship, guiding Magesi to 12th position with 29 points from 26 matches - a respectable achievement for the debutants. As the season concludes, the club faces another transition with Ghanaian midfield anchor Samuel Darpoh set to depart after three influential years.

"Samuel leaves with our gratitude after helping make history," agent Mike Makaab confirmed to FARPost. The 27-year-old's 23 appearances this campaign capped a journey that saw him progress with Magesi from the NFD to top-flight trophy winners. His departure marks the end of an era for a player who embodied the club's remarkable rise against all odds.
