Magesi FC parts ways with ten players after season ends

South African club Magesi FC, competing in the Betway Premier League, has officially confirmed the departure of ten first-team players. Among those leaving the squad are two former Orlando Pirates players.
This mass exodus comes in the wake of the recent sacking of head coach Owen Da Gama. Although the coach saved the team from relegation, the parties were unable to reach an agreement to continue their collaboration. Da Gama took charge of Magesi in December 2024 when the club was in the drop zone and managed to finish the season in 13th place, collecting 31 points from 28 matches.
This was Magesi's first full season in the top flight after promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Moreover, the team made history by winning the League Cup in 2024, defeating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the final.
The list of players released by the club includes Gift Motupa, Neverdie Makhubela, Deolin Mekoa, Rulani Manzini, Amos Mokwena, Boikanyo Komane, Maboke Matlakala, Anathi Ngwadla, Given Mashikinya, and Menzi Ndwandwe. The departures of Motupa and Makhubela are particularly notable—both previously played for the Pirates, but were unable to make a significant impact at Magesi.
