Maduka Okoye Explains Why He Chose Nigeria Over Germany for International Career

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has opened up about his decision to represent Nigeria instead of Germany, revealing that it was always a clear and personal choice for him.

The 26-year-old, who previously featured for Germany at youth level, said his long-term ambition was to play for Nigeria, the country of his heritage. Despite his development within the German system, Okoye admitted his heart was always set on wearing the Super Eagles jersey.

Speaking in an interview with SportyTV, he made his stance clear:

"I always knew I wanted to play for Nigeria," he revealed.

"Of course, I went to youth German selections, but when the time came for Nigeria, I knew this was a dream, and I made it come true, by God's grace.”
